I find inspiration everywhere for my projects. The inspiration for these paintings was a commercial for printer ink I heard on the radio driving to work. The girl in the commercial had allergies and couldnt have real flowers because it upset her allergies. So instead of real flowers she had a paper vase with paper flowers. What a great idea right for a painting! So here is what I came up with:
I went through images of flowers on the internet that I liked and printed them out. Then I found two pictures of vases that I liked (and they matched too!). I arranged everything on the canvas after I painted the backgrounds and then glued everything down. To make it a little funky I embellished it with the 3D paper flowers that I found laying around my house (I think they were bought from Michaels).
The paints I used for the backgrounds of the paintings were acrylic paints I bought from Texas Art Supply (my favorite art supply store). I used the Liquitex "Basics" Acrylic Color and the Pebeo Studio Acrylics. On one painting I used the "bright aqua green" by Basics and the "iridescent green yellow" by Pebeo. On the other painting I used the "cobalt blue hue" by Basics and the "iridescent blue green" by Pebeo.
Have you ever gotten inspiration from unlikely places? I'd love to hear about it :)
